Nutritious Meal Programs
Good nutrition is extremely important for all seniors. Living alone,
chronic illness, or taking multiple medications can compromise the
quality of nutrition a senior receives.
The Southwest Washington Agency on Aging provides
two meal program options:
Home delivered
meals program
Congregate
meals program
The congregate meals program serves hot
nutritious meals and provides other nutritional services at various
locations throughout the five county area. Transportation assistance
to and from the meal site may be available. Nutrition and community
information is also provided at these sites.
The home delivered meals program provides nutritious meals to older
persons who are homebound by reason of illness, disability, or who
are otherwise isolated. Services are intended to maintain or improve
the health status of these individuals, support their independence,
prevent premature institutionalization, and allow earlier discharge
from hospitals and nursing homes.
A registered dietician approves all meals, and each meal can be
modified for particular health concerns - such as diabetic, low-sodium
and low-cholesterol meals.
*There is a suggested donation of $2.75 per meal.
SWAA would like to emphasize that this is a voluntary contribution.
No eligible person will be denied meals if unable to make a contribution.
